What is PCI?

PCI stands for Payment Card Industry, but more specifically is used as a short name referring to the PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard).  Any organization that stores, processes, or transmits payment cardholder data, no matter what size, must meet the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). These requirements are set forth by the PCI Security Standards Council to enhance payment card data security, and ultimately, protect your organization.
